Substantive Law: 1.0
Business Interruption Insurance
The recent case of HDI Global Specialty SE v Wonkana No. 3 Pty Ltd NSWCA 296 highlights this rapidly evolving area.
While the insurance industry denies insurance policy payouts due to the pandemic, recent Court decisions call into question the apparent uncertainty in the interpretation of some key words in Insurance policies. It also highlights the potential for class actions against insurers.
As businesses seek to recover from months of closure many lawyers will be asked what options their clients’ have regarding recovery from insurers.
This seminar will cover property damage policies, how coverage for losses caused by infectious diseases developed and the different wordings on the market, summarising the issues yet to be determined.
Our presenter will also provide practical tips regarding preparing business interruption claims, and whether or not ACFA or court proceedings is the best option for your clients.
